Cloughton Cleaning was created through founder David Ward’s struggle to find a reliable company to look after his holiday let property, and maintain the high standards his guests had come to expect. With no real options, David utilised his previous experience of property development and maintenance, and undertook the role of cleaner, caretaker, property manager and handyman. Leaning on a close network of trusted tradesmen to undertake the jobs he couldn’t.

It wasn’t until David was contacted by the owner of a local holiday cottage asking if he knew a local company to clean and maintain their property, that David realised he had unknowingly created exactly that!

Having launched Cloughton Cleaning, it became apparent very few holiday let owners have the time to actively ‘manage’ their properties. And are simply reacting to a multitude of client problems that could have been forseen and avoided.

Add to this the fact that a large percentage of owners live far away from their second homes and, whilst relying on them for income, managing the properties effectively from afar is very difficult.

In today’s internet age, rentals live and die by their reviews. If the property falls below the expectations of holiday tenants, a poor review of a property on Trip Advisor or Airbnb can lead to thousands of pounds of lost bookings.
